Recruitment Process
Our chapter does our recruitment process over the course of one week at the beginning of each semester. Our Recruitment Committee tries their hardest to plan events they believe many people will take interest in.

The Member in Training (MIT) Process
Once a woman has received a bid and has decided to pledge SAI, she will be considered a Member in Training until she is initiated into the fraternity near the end of the semester. Between the pledging ceremony and the Initiation Ceremony, she will attend classes to learn the history of Sigma Alpha Iota.
These classes will be taught by the chapter's Vice President of Membership (VPM). The VPM will set up a meeting time that works for all MIT's after the pledging ceremony takes place. These classes will last between four and eight weeks. At the end of the training period, you will take an exam to test your knowledge of the SAI. Once you have passed the test, you will be approved for initiation into the Zeta Psi chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a music major?
Nope! You do not have to be a music major. However, to be eligible to pledge, you must have taken or be enrolled in a music class.
Why is it called a fraternity and not a sorority?
When Sigma Alpha Iota was founded in 1903, the term Sorority was not used very often. The word "fraternity" comes from the latin word "fraternus" meaning brotherhood or, at that time, even sisterhood.
How much time does it take?
Most of our sisters are very busy between work, school, and trying to have a social life in between. As an MIT, we expect you to attend your weekly MIT classes and encourage you to attend our weekly chapter meetings. Once you are an initiated member, we expect that you attend our weekly meetings and other events our chapter is involved with. When we plan our meeting time each semester, we ask that everyone submit a schedule so that we can find a meeting time everyone is able to attend. Doing this helps make sure that even the busiest students can find time to participate in SAI.
Can I join if I am already a member of another sorority/fraternity?
SAI is not a member of the National Panhellenic Council. Members of the PHC greek community are eligible to join SAI. We cannot, however, initiate members of the music fraternities Delta Omicron, Mu Phi Epsilon, or Phi Beta. None of these fraternities are at IPFW anyways, so that should not be an issue.
